For one of the biggest makeup brands in Western Europe, Artdeco isn’t well known in the UK. When it comes to makeup, a lot of people usually stick to what they know, whether it’s brands like Rimmel London all the way to Chanel. But how come the biggest European makeup company isn’t as popular over here? Maybe people just don’t know enough about the company or their products? Maybe it isn’t advertised enough? Luckily enough, I’m here to tell you pretty much everything you need to know about Artdeco makeup, the price range and where to buy:
Artdeco is a German cosmetics brand designed for its unique demographic of customers with sensitive and dry skin types. Since 1985, when Artdeco first launched at local beauty salons, their customers continued to grow in their masses leading Artdeco to be listed as the 79th largest company in the makeup industry, published by the Cosmetics Trade Journal WWD Beauty Report for the Top 100 Ranking of cosmetics brands. Artdeco solely focuses on the individual needs of all customers, alongside their amazing prices and out of this world selection of products, which are used by the makeup artists for TV programmes such as Coronation Street, Emmerdale and even Red Carpet Events. Their products cover all areas of colour and can give off any look or style that you may be going for.
Just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, none of Artdeco’s products contain alcohol or harsh chemicals to dry out the skin. All cleansers, primers and foundations are designed for sensitive skin, as well as their eye and lip makeup. This means that whatever product you choose that’s right for you will leave you with flawless looking skin every time. The Artdeco store that I’m keen to talk about today is the one located at Debenhams, Liverpool One. For years now, this store has been open to the public and is located right next to Benito’s Brow Bar, who specialise in eyebrow threading.
Artdeco currently has one professional makeup artist working at the store called Faye and after purchasing some brilliant blushers and eyeliners for myself, I was offered a free facial and face of makeup. This is because at the moment there is an offer on at the store where if you spend over £15 on Artdeco products you receive a free hand massage, a cleanse and tone facial as well as a full face of makeup for whatever look you’d like that day. Not too bad for spending a little cash is it?
At first I was hesitant to using new products on my skin because I have dry and sensitive skin, like a lot of you out there I’m sure – so these products I’m about to list would be great to use.
Skin Perfecting Makeup Base:
This product is a foundation primer and it’s free from fragrances, silicone and parabens, which is absolutely delightful for letting skin breathe! Foundation primers help keep foundation on throughout the day and doesn’t leave your makeup melting off when you’re on the dance floor this New Years. You can find this product at the Artdeco store in Debenhams, Liverpool One. If you’re not from around the Liverpool area then it will be sold at any Artdeco store located within your nearest Debenhams for just £18.00 a bottle.
High Definition & Rich Treatment Foundation:
This product is so luxurious, a beautiful creamy texture and it doesn’t clog up your pours or make your face look greasy at all. It reduces the look of any wrinkles or blemishes that you might have for a celebrity look that will have you camera ready any time this Christmas. As you can see in the image below, this foundation gives off a natural look without having to use too much, saving you lots of pennies this season! This product starts at £17.40 a bottle from Debenhams, Liverpool One.
Camouflage Cream:
This concealer came as a surprise to me, as I’d never really used a concealer on a palette before, I’ve always used the tubed ones. So when this was applied onto my skin I didn’t realise how light it felt and how well it hid my dark circles and blemishes. It can also be matched perfectly against your skin colour when you mix it with other shades of concealer to give an even finish. Depending on how light or heavy you apply it, it gives excellent coverage even in the hottest of temperatures. This product is at Debenhams, Liverpool One and is priced at £8. It honestly will make you look flawless for the New Years party.
Orange Blusher:
I remember Faye saying to me “orange is the new black”, originally I thought she was talking about the hit Netflix series, then I realised she was talking about blusher. I don’t think orange is the new black unless you use black blusher, but orange is definitely the new pink! Orange cheekbones help to define them and bring out the colour of your highlighter and bronzer when you contour. Obviously you don’t want to cover your cheeks and look like a bottle of Tango, but it is a step forward to a new (and gorgeous) look this Christmas. Trust the makeup artists, it’s genuis. £6 – £11.50 these blushers range at, of course if you don’t want to use orange there’s other colours available, don’t worry!
Eyeshadow Base:
What an eyeshadow base does is holds onto your eye makeup for a pretty long time – perfect for when you’re heading into town for the night. It also locks in the moisture so your eye lids don’t dry out as well as hold the brightness of the colour for as long as possible. I see some of the biggest vloggers use eyeshadow primers, especially YouTube star Gabriella (aka, velvetgh0st). Her makeup tutorials consist of eyeshadow primers and for £8 – £14 at Debenhams, it’s not only a perfect gift for yourself, but for your mother, sister or wife too!
Eyeshadow:
The eyeshadow that was used had a lovely shimmer to it and gives off a radiant look which is perfect this Winter and it will definitely turn some heads at those Christmas parties. When applying eyeshadow, you want to use a shimmer on your eyelid and a matte colour on the crease and outer corners of your eyes, then just blend to create a flawless smokey eye. You can create some of the top celebrity looks with Artdeco makeup, including this fabulous look worn by Angelina Jolie. The eyeshadow comes in a number of different colours and textures starting at £5.50 each.
Mascara:
I have recently been introduced to the All in one Panoramic Mascara, which is what was used on my eyelashes. The wand is designed with special ‘spider technology’ which means that your eyelashes will have more volume and length in order to dazzle anyone that gets in your way. It is the alternative to false eyelashes, so there’s no need to struggle trying to apply them this season. A few coats of this will see you through the night with a silky shine and great texture. As I’ve said before, all Artdeco makeup is designed for sensitive skin and everything is dermatologically approved. The All in one Panoramic Mascara ranges from £10-£15 from Artdeco, Debenhams.
Eyebrow Powder:
This little number is a gift sent from God himself. As we all know, eyebrows are pretty much one of the most important features on a woman’s (and man’s) face, to ensure that we properly maintain A-list eyebrows, we more than often have to fill them in with a coloured powder, whether that be black, dark or light brown. These eyebrow powders are only £6 from the Debenhams store, Liverpool One and will last a very long time. My mum and her close friend recently bought this powder and have given great reviews on it after just 2 weeks and asked me to mention how much they benefit from it, which is great news!
How was the service off Faye (the makeup artist)?
Personally, I thought the service was fantastic. Faye was really kind to me like she is all her customers and even though I was a bit nervous about my makeover to start with, I felt completely relaxed after just 5 minutes of sitting and being pampered. As it’s something I’ve never had done before, she asked me what type of skin I had and was telling me all about the different products that she was using on my face. I was regularly allowed to look in the mirror to see if I was enjoying the look that she gave me (which I did), she also suggested different shades that would work on my skin as well as offering makeup tips, which will definitely come in handy at New Years!
Would you trust Faye with future makeup experiences?
Of course! With her talent and experience, anyone would be lucky to have their makeup done by Faye at Artdeco, Liverpool One. As well as being a friendly face, she’s worked for Artdeco for some time now and knows the company and the products inside out – which is always good that someone knows that they’re on about. For anyone wanting to have a makeup consultation or check out their products, then please visit: Artdeco Liverpool One.
How was your overall experience?
It was fabulous, I honestly felt like a little princess being pampered for the day. A few people have commented on how well Faye has done and how welcome they felt, not just to Artdeco, but at Debenhams, Liverpool One in general. Not only are the products fantastic, the prices are too. Artdeco is currently 10% off all week, so it’s best to get down there for your Christmas shopping asap for a great customer service and shopping experience.
Would you recommend Artdeco to readers?
I would recommend Artdeco, I’d recommend it to anyone who was looking for a new brand and anyone who was still using their old brands. I’m being 100% honest now, like I have been throughout this whole article, I have swapped most of my makeup for Artdeco because it is tailored to any skin type, there are no harsh chemicals and pretty much every product will bring you out of your comfort zone this Winter. Liverpool One is an excellent day out anyway, so why not spend some of it at Artdeco, Debenhams.
Finally, here’s my before and after look from the makeover!
Thanks for stopping by everyone and I'll see you again next time!
